AOSA COLOR PROJECT -【AOSA LIGHT GREEN】
Our team with Hamamatsu-shi has created a new color using seaweed, which is rare in the world.
Lake Hamana of Aosa, which had been caused various problem in the region due to the large amount of it in Lake Hamana.
For example,
Blue-green algae washed up on the lakeshore emit a foul odor.
And many problems existed, such as shellfish in Lake Hamana, which is rich in fishery resources, being suffocated by blue-green algae.
It also causes damage such as getting entangled in fishing nets.
Because of these problems, every summer the Hamana Fishery Cooperative Association conducted the removal operation to remove the green algae.
*There has been some improvement recently.
We started a joint project with a long-established dyeing craftsman in Hamamatsu-shi and a designer of tiny GLUTTON who thought, "Can't we make effective use of this material and treat it as an object that contributes to local culture, rather than just disposing of it?
Normally, aosa is very difficult to handle as a dye because it does not leave much pigment when dried.
Colors dying made from seaweed, which is often avoided from dyeing materials, generate a characteristic color, pale texture compared to normal plant dyeing.
Just like wine, let's pleasure the different colors of the different seasons.

浜松市とのチームが、世界でも珍しい海藻を使った新しいカラーを作りました。
浜名湖に大量発生し、地域で様々な問題を引き起こしていたアオサ。
例えば
-湖岸に打ち上げられたアオコが悪臭を放つ。
-水産資源の豊富な浜名湖の貝類がアオコによって窒息させられる。
-漁網に絡まるなどの被害も出ている。
こうした問題から、浜名漁業協同組合では毎年夏にアオコの除去作業を行ってきていました。
*最近は少し改善されてきました。
浜松市の老舗染色職人や、tiny GLUTTONのデザイナーが「この素材を廃棄するのではなく、有効活用し、地域文化に貢献するオブジェとして扱えないか」と考え、共同プロジェクトを立ち上げました。
通常、アオサは乾燥しても色素があまり残らないため、染料としては非常に扱いにくく、染料の原料として敬遠されがちな海藻です。
そんなアオサで染めた色は、通常の草木染めに比べて独特の色合いと淡い風合いで染まります。
まるでワインのように、季節によって異なる味わいのあるカラーをお楽しみください。
